mPERS.ONE is an Accelerator Designed to Supercharge the Provisioning and Management of mobile Personal Emergency Response Systems.
Combining an industry-proven, enterprise-grade Internet of Things (IoT) application platform with specific device connectivity and both PERS and mPERS application components, mPERS.ONE enables new value added features for PERS and mPERS systems while improving response time and quality of care in medical emergencies.
THE CHALLENGE
Roughly 10,000 people are turning 65 every day, a trend expected to continue for the next 17 years. Currently, nearly 50% of people 75 years old or older are living alone. Yet, living alone does not have to mean begin alone. With the number of seniors expected to double by 2050, the demand for PERS will continue to rise proportionally. Existing legacy systems rely on an aged and brittle infrastructure that is becoming obsolete, supports limited capabilities and often restrict user mobility. As seniors enjoy a more active lifestyle there is a growing need for more advanced systems that provide better protection both inside and outside the home. As they also become more tech-savvy, they also have higher expectations of their personal technology, expecting integration with the Internet, Facebook, Skype, and other social tools they use to connect with friends, family members, and caregivers. All of which leaves today’s PERS solutions lacking.
THE SOLUTION
Advances in GPS technology and cellular connectivity are powering a new generation of mobile Personal Emergency Response Systems (mPERS) that offer greater freedom, improved security and enhanced capabilities. mPERS.ONE is a turn-key, application platform designed to intelligently connect and monitor a large network of both traditional PERS and new mPERS devices and manage emergency responses, all from a central control application. The mPERS.ONE platform is highly scalable, secure, and flexible, enabling the design, development and deployment, and management of both PERS and mPERS applications, at ten times faster than any other approach.
mPERS.ONE is designed to work with a wide range of PERS and mPERS devices and protocols to provide maximum flexibility and reduced costs in deploying and managing PERS and mPERS applications. A powerful Rules Engine supports real-time decision-making in response to key programmed events. This enables the next generation of PERS and mPERs predictive solutions by identifying changes in user activity patterns to identify potential emergency situations when users are unable to activate alerts due to incapacitation.
Featuring an advanced data sharing model, mPERS.ONE enables communication across a wide array of systems and services. In medical emergencies, for instance, a user’s health data (known conditions and current health monitor values) and location can be shared as soon as the person activates the emergency button allowing more precise, prepared and timely emergency response. In addition to fall detection there are many value-added services that can be provided as well including medicine reminders, activity monitoring (steps taken and calories burned), and predictive medical alerts. These services can provide more revenue growth, while providing a higher quality of care for customers, and peace of mind for families.
