Palo Alto – October 27, 2015 – PLAT.ONE (www.plat.one), the first enterprise-grade Internet of Things (IoT) solution platform, today announced the appointment of industry visionary and veteran, Dr. John Bates, as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.
PLAT.ONE, established in 2011, has created a robust IoT solution platform used by large industrial customers to manage over 1 million sensors on fixed and mobile assets globally. It has been proven to accelerate time-to-value in building, deploying and managing solutions, with support for a wide range of machine protocols. PLAT.ONE’s combination of secure and robust device connectivity, distributed fog computing and multi-tenant cloud-ready solution platform, combined with rapid solution development and customization tools, is the only enterprise grade IoT platform.
Filippo Murroni, Founder and Interim CEO, will assume the role of CTO, expanding both the products and solution sets. Dr. John Bates is a pioneer in the fields of the IoT and Big Data Streaming Analytics. He co-founded Apama and led the company as President and CTO, where he pioneered the commercial development of big data streaming analytics. After selling Apama to Progress Software (NASDAQ: PRGS), he served as Divisional General Manager and then corporate CTO. At Software AG (Frankfurt TecDAX: SOW), John held various roles including Member of the Group Executive Board, CMO, Head of Industry Solutions and CTO of Big Data. Wall Street and Technology named Dr. John Bates as one of the “Innovators of the Decade” and Institutional Investor lists him as one of the “Tech 50” most influential technologists. John holds a Ph.D. from Cambridge University and currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
